Meet Elation Professional's KL Par FC. Engineered to produce both saturated colors and accurate whites without sacrificing any output, the KL Par FC is a color mixing wash fixture dynamic enough to make a visual statement, even in large venues. High output and a dynamic color range are so versatile that lighting faces for cameras and coloring stages for live performances are both no issue.
KL PAR FC Optics & Output
Under the hood of the KL Par FC is a single 280 watt RGBMA LED engine that generates an impressive 11,000 lumens, making it a contender even in large venues.
The KL Par FC ships with four interchangeable lenses - ranging from 11-degrees to 52-degrees - and thanks to a convenient release notch, you are spared the hassle of wrestling with lens changes (like with an older PAR you may be familiar with).
RGBMA Color Mixing Engine
What really sets this PAR a-PAR-t is that it delivers both deeply saturated colors and incredibly precise shades of white without sacrificing output. The secret sauce that allows the KL Par FC to produce deep colors and precise whites is the RGBMA color mixing engine.
You are probably already familiar with how most LED fixtures use Red, Green, and Blue diodes to use an additive color mixing system that can produce virtually any color. The constraint is that you are limited to only the colors the three original colors (RGB) can deliver.
Different manufacturers have added White, Cyan, Congo, and other chips to their LED engines to produce the broadest and most applicable range of colors. Elation's decision to go with a Mint and Amber chip over white or any other color has resulted in the versatility to open up deep saturated colors and a wide range of true whites with a high color rendering.
KL PAR FC DMX Control & Profile
You can take advantage of the different chips in a few different ways. Six different fixture modes ranging from 1 to 18 channels offer varying control options depending on how you want to color mix. Straightforward RGBMA control, a virtual gel swatch book, or CMY emulation, where you can use familiar color mixing, and the engine calculates when to include what chip to produce the brightest, highest quality of light.
Single control mode gives you DMX control of the dimmer, while you might be taking advantage of the intuitive rotary dial and OLED menu where you can manually adjust Color, Color Temperature, green shift, and other settings.
Rigging, Physical & Electrical
The KL Par FC feels appropriately sturdy without being too heavy, weighing just over 15 lbs. It's compact considering how much output it delivers, despite only drawing 284 watts. Your standard clamp attachments are on the yoke, or pop out a convenient kickstand if you want the fixture to sit on the ground.
From Us, Elation Professional KL PAR FC
A highlight of the fixtures is the protracted and notched focusing increments, making locking in systems of light incredibly straightforward and consistent.
Since the KL Par FC is a fixture capable of lighting for multiple applications, another feature worth exploring is the advanced dimming modes. Find that perfect curve that gives you the effect you're working towards. Also, there are a few extra options with the KL Par FC. As you might have noticed, this fixture is available in white or black, and you can add in 7.5-inch barn doors, an extra-wide 90-degree lens, or even a glass lens option.
KL PAR FC Price
The KL Par FC, with all of its adaptability, is really an advanced wash fixture - but it comes at a reasonable price. It is important to be mindful of cost because you aren't usually purchasing a single PAR; you're shopping for a system, and totals can add up quickly. All of this output and tunability at $999 a fixture is competitive.
The KL Par FC is versatile enough to be a workhorse wash fixture. Its high output and dynamic color range are so flexible lighting faces for cameras, and coloring stages for live performances are both no issue.
