Compact frame. Dual-fluid flexibility. Big-stage results. We teamed up with Innovative Intensity to see if the Master FX Mystic Mini haze machine could live up to its name inside LA’s one-of-a-kind venue, The CineVita, the world's largest speigeltent.
About the Master FX Mystic Mini Haze Machine
The Mystic Mini has been around enough to prove it’s more than just the “little one” in the Master FX lineup. It takes the same DNA as the Mystic 2 and wraps it in a smaller, tour-friendly frame. For LD's who loved the Mystic 2 but needed something easier to tuck under a deck or fit in a case, the Mini delivers exactly that without losing any of its backbone.
Its 1000W heater hits full stride in under a minute, the onboard presets make it quick to dial in, and the dual-fluid system keeps things flexible between dense or airy atmospheres. Add in details like the low-fluid sensor, quick-disconnect tank, voltage protection, and a 5-year warranty, and it’s clear the Mini isn’t a stripped-down version; it’s a streamlined one. Built to travel, easy to hide, and rock-solid once it’s running, it’s the kind of gear that earns its keep night after night.

Two Fluids, One Compact Beast
The Mystic Mini takes everything LDs loved about the Mystic 2 and shrinks it into a build that feels ready for the road. Despite its smaller footprint, it maintains the feature that made the Mystic 2 a favorite: a dual-fluid system that lets you toggle between dense haze and thin haze for two completely different environments. Whether you’re lighting a ballroom or blasting a full-scale production, it gives designers the control to dial in atmosphere, not just volume.
“The variable fluid densities are a great design option,” said Mike Berger. “Nebulous is right at home in the theatre and broadcast space, while the obscure really gives you a billowy fog like quality.”

Real-World Haze Test: CineVita Los Angeles
Tucked beside SoFi Stadium at Hollywood Park, CineVita is LA’s newest playground for sensory storytelling. A sprawling mirrored tent that blurs the line between cinema, concert, and immersive theatre. Built as the world’s largest Belgian spiegeltent, it’s filled with stained glass, wood detailing, and over 3,000 hand beveled mirrors that catch every flicker of light and haze. Inside, For the Record’s Tarantino | Pulp Rock transforms film soundtracks into live performance with 360° staging and atmospheric flair.
It’s the kind of space where every beam, burst, and cue matters, which made it the perfect venue to put the Master FX Mystic Mini to the test. Teaming up with Lighting Designer Mike Berger of Innovative Intensity, who is responsible for the lighting design of the resident production, we brought the units into the tent to see how far we could push them in a space that demands both precision and atmosphere. Compact, quiet, and built for rooms that need just the right amount of haze without overwhelming the scene, the Mystic Mini handled CineVita’s cinematic energy with ease.
How the Mystic Mini Performed
First impressions? The 50-second warm-up time is every bit as quick as promised. From cold start to haze on deck, the Mini was ready to roll quickly. Moving from preheat to dispersion, it filled the tent faster than expected for its size, and the noise floor stayed impressively low throughout.
“It’s small and quiet enough to be easily concealed on or near-stage.” Berger said.
Even after extended runtime, the Mystic Mini didn’t flinch. The output stayed consistent, and the dual-fluid setup made a clear difference. The Nebulous fluid provided a soft, even haze that hung beautifully in the mirrors and lights of the tent, while the Obscure fluid pushed things to near whiteout, reducing visibility and cutting beams with cinematic density.
“For the size, the output was killer,” Berger added. “You’d expect something this compact to struggle in a bigger room.”

From Us
After seeing the Mystic Mini in action, we’re convinced it’s built for designers who need a touring-grade atmosphere solution without the bulk. Between a road case option, dual-fluid adaptability, and 5-year warranty, the Mystic Mini hits a sweet spot of performance and longevity.
If you’re building out your next tour rig or just want a smaller footprint that doesn’t compromise output, the Mystic Mini earns its place on the truck.
